Rustic Simplicity Meets Modern Elegance

Luxury kitchen and master bathroom remodel brings Lyons, Colorado family home from outdated to upscale

The Monroy family purchased their 5,400 square-foot family home in the spring of 2021, a 20-year-old craftsman on a stunning 35 acres in the heart of the Rockies.

While the home boasted breathtaking views of the mountains from every room of its open floor plan, the kitchen and master bathroom were in contrast, unremarkable and outdated.

Recognizing their need for a few upgrades, the family contacted us that summer for a full kitchen remodel and renovation of the master bathroom.

Over the next weeks, we helped the family achieve a level of comfort and luxury worthy of their new abode.

Our Approach:
Initial Consultation to Project Completion

The full kitchen and master bathroom renovation process began in October 2021. Upon hiring us for renovations, the first step was to get the client’s vision on paper. Teaming up with a professional designer and architect, we began the first steps to making their vision a reality.

The family made all the selections for their new kitchen and bathroom, from the lighting to the appliances, to the fixtures. Staying true to their vision, our architect created renderings of both rooms to provide a clear understanding and representation of the proposed design.

Working in a set timeline while the family left on a planned trip, we completed the majority of renovation work within three weeks. Our site super managed the full scope of the project from scheduling to material ordering, project oversight, and coordination.

Throughout this process we kept the family in the loop with daily updates by phone and call—and were able to accomplish every little detail exactly as desired.

Custom Cabinetry

Custom cabinetry from Tharp Custom Cabinetry lines the north wall and provides a milder, more modern solution to the home’s outdated kitchen storage. The cabinetry was designed and built to house all new appliances, like the stainless steel stovetop, oven, refrigerator, and microwave (located in the center island).

Shelving

Custom 12” deep shelves of knotty hickory keep the original rustic spirit of the home alive, balancing a cool and calming space with a touch of warmth.

Countertops

Elegant and durable Cambria quartz tops the counters and center island. This same versatile countertop is also featured in the home’s custom vanities in the master bathroom.

Tile and Backsplash

Adjacent accent walls of soft mint tile selected by the homeowner with the help of our selections coordinator provide not only a sense of personal aesthetic, but a cleaner, low-maintenance solution to stand up to regular use in the kitchen—doubling as a durable, heat- and stain-resistant backsplash.

Stainless Steel Appliances

Stainless steel Viking appliances—including stove, hood, oven, microwave, and refrigerator—not only bring professional-grade power to the new kitchen, but a new and exciting culinary experience for the family with every use.

Sink

The farmhouse style of an apron-front kitchen sink complements the modern custom cabinetry and appliances, while staying true to the homeowner’s vision. The single-basin, enameled cast iron sink is designed to take on larger loads, while providing easy cleanup and resistance to chipping and cracking.

Lighting

The warm glow of teardrop pendant lighting suspended above the center island brings life to the kitchen in a modern, yet organic way.

Coffered Ceiling

A coffered ceiling designed by architect Derek Van Uffelen brought the space together with an elevated look and balanced the cool kitchen with a subtle warmth.
