Ranch Home Additions

Need ranch home addition ideas? There are several popular options, including:

  • Adding a second story to your ranch house if you’re looking to increase your square footage by up to double. This option allows you to add upstairs to a ranch house without sacrificing yard space, and it can dramatically change the functionality of your home!
  • Creating a partial second story addition to expand your space without altering the entire footprint. This is a great way to add more bedrooms or a home office while maintaining the ranch’s single-story feel in some areas.
  • Adding an addition off the back of a raised ranch if you’d prefer to keep the home single-story while expanding the kitchen, living room, or creating a new family room.

Whether you’re considering expanding a ranch-style home horizontally or vertically, adding an addition to a ranch house can increase your home’s value and improve its overall layout.

CASE STUDY

Remodeling a 1960s Ranch Home in Boulder, CO

When the new homeowner snapped up this 2,400 sq. ft. ranch house just a stone’s throw from downtown Boulder, they had a vision for a modern, functional family home. They partnered with us in Spring 2023 to renovate both the interior and exterior and bring the look and feel of Boulder back into the space. Like many older ranch homes common to South Boulder, it was showing the usual signs of wear and tear.

The mission was straightforward: a gut renovation to bring about a luxurious space fit for modern living.

Transforming this ranch house into a high-functioning modern masterpiece was no small feat, but we embraced the challenge, crafting a canvas for its new owners to exercise their creative license. See the before and after of this 1960s ranch house remodel below!
